Sugar Cookies

Sugar cookies are truly the universal cookie, you can make them to suit any occasion. Roll them into cutouts, make drop cookies, fill them, frost them or add your favorite extract to change up the flavor, the possibilities are really endless.

Add confectionery sugar rather than crystal sugar which will give you a more tender flaky type cookie. If you add baking powder and baking soda you get a slightly puffier cookie.

CUT OUT COOKIES

Pre heat your oven 350
  •   3 cups sifted all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
Cream your butter and sugar.
Add 1 egg at a time. Beat well after each.
Add Vanilla
Add flour and baking soda 1 cup at a time. Do not over mix. Mix just till all combined

Chill your dough for at least an hour. This will help you roll them out with out sticking too much.
Once chilled-Dust your counter lightly with flour and roll out to 1/8 to 1/4 in and use whatever cutter you'd like. After you place the cookies on your cookie sheet sticky the tray in your refrigerator for a few minutes. This will help prevent them from spreading while cooking.
Bake for 12-15min- Of course it will depend on your oven. I start checking after 10 min.
